I’m in Trouble.

So, I watch my fair share of later night tv, when I am on a knitting tear…and recently I have seen quite a few of the “Catholics Come Home” ads.  These mostly consist of people sitting under good lighting, talking about how they moved away from the faith, and have now “come home”.

There is a lovely scene where they show and obviously Native American man who says that he loves the church because “I feel accepted for who I am.”

A small chuckle burst from me when I heard this.  Because, sure, the Catholic Church will accept you for who you are.  Unless, of course, you are:

gay, divorced, using birth control, having or have had sex before marriage, are now having or have had an affair, or believe that any of these is not a mortal sin.

Other than that, you’re in the clear.

And my favorite on my handy “List of Sins” I found was Male Prostitution.  Because apparently, it’s okay for women to be prostitutes in the eyes of the Catholic church.

This handy list of the mortal sins…just the mortal sins, comes from my friends at

  1. Good comments. Actually all of the items on that list are legitimate sins according to the Bible. Now if you are not a ‘believer’ and you do not accept the Bible as the truth, then you’re not in any more trouble than you were before you read the list.
